# Delegation and authorized delegation

> Eligible substitutes, validity periods, and revocation.

## My Delegation

An approver selects an eligible substitute, category scope, and start/end times. The node must allow delegation. Missing candidates may lack active membership or Approve authority for that category.

Delegation does not grant every category or unlimited duration. The actual decision-maker and authority basis remain recorded. Permission/status changes can invalidate a substitute even if the task was previously visible.

## Authorize Delegation

A manager with the required permission uses **Authorize Delegation** when a member is sick/on leave and cannot configure it. Set the authority owner, substitute, category, period, and accurate reason.

Do not use this feature to impersonate someone, bypass category checks, or obtain another user's OTP. Giving a substitute Admin status does not replace the necessary Approve grant.

## Review and revoke

Review active/scheduled delegations, periods, and affected assignments. Revoke unnecessary delegations. Tasks may return or transfer according to runtime reconciliation; check the latest task before deciding. Validity is checked again at action time, not only in the UI.

## Signing is separate

Approval delegation does not automatically replace a document signer or let a substitute sign in the original approver's name. Use the correct recipients and signing process.
